STORY
THE BEGINNING / 0 › Dot and Dipper were born as orphans in Westruun a year after the Chroma Conclave and the brief occupation by the Herd of Storms. The two sisters ran through the streets to survive, stealing what they could get their hands on and never looking back. Dot taught her sister and herself to read, pilfering scraps of paper from trashed books and old tomes. She had always been bright. Fascinated with knowledge and the world that seemed so much larger than Westruun's walls. Things were far from ideal, but they had each other. At the very least, they weren't alone.
THE ADOPTION / 10 › Then one day, Dipper picked the wrong pockets and the victim managed to chase them all the way to their hiding hole. Alexis Forsythe, the stranger introduced herself as. She smiled instead of admonishing them, praising Dipper for her quick feet and good instincts. She offered a hand to the sisters. A better life. Food on the table and a roof over their heads. She could provide for them. Hesitantly, Dot struck a deal with the devil. Suspicious and uneasy, but also unwilling to pass up the opportunity. And that was the story of their adoption by a well-known merchant, though perhaps she was better known as a contact for the Clasp within the Ironhand Trading Company. Under Alexis' tutelage, Dot learned how to adjust ledgers, forge letters, write in code and speak a variety of the common languages used with trading goods. She learned magic, taking to it like a duck to water and Alexis beamed with pride. Dipper learned to be even quicker. To coat herself with the shadows and slip out of people's grasps. It was a surprisingly stable life. Alexis was fair. She cared for the girls, seeing herself in them and genuinely wanted better for them. She wanted them to survive, teaching them everything she could about how to traverse through the Underbelly of society.
THE BREAK / 14 › It was never going to last. After an operation gone wrong, Alexis' true allegiance was exposed, the Clasp decided to burn the loose end. The sisters ran. At least, they tried to. Dipper broke off to distract the assailants because she was quicker. She thought she would be able to get away. She didn't. That was the last time Dot ever saw any of her family.
BODY HORROR WARNING / 16 › If only that was true. Angry and grieving, Dot did her best to skulk around the shadows, seeing what she could find out about what happened to Alexis and Dipper. Two years later, she found her sister in a forgotten dumping ground of bones and rotting corpses. She shouldn't have been able to recognize Dipper, but she did. Against all reason, she did. She saw a skull and saw the face it used to wear. The sister she so treasured dearly. Dot ran away. Dot ran away as far as she could as fast as she could, never once looking back as the horror was burned into her eyes.
LIFE IN WILDEMOUNT / 19 › Dot ran to Wildemount to start again. She found a job with the Gentleman after untangling a troublesome case of forgery and tries desperately to forget, burying herself in work.

THEME › Spells range depending on the day, but Hollyhock has a distinctly aquatic theme to her, usually picking water-based spells. To the point that even her magic manifests as steam, particularly when she pulls her blade. The scabbard erupts in hissing tendrils of steam that curl around her and cover her in mist. She usually has an equal measure of healing spells and damage spells. Though she prefers to get up close and personal with the beasts and enemies she fights, always thrilled by the sound of her own heartbeat sound like war drums, she has always strived to balance mending and breaking. Though she's not known for her healing arts any longer, that doesn't mean there aren't people who haven't felt the cool pulse of water over her wounds, eyes wide in surprise as the White Knight heals them and urges them to flee before danger touches them.

A well-taken care of blade and very loved, seeing much action despite being the "cleric's" blade. It's been lightly enchanted to be able to affect creatures immune to non-magical damage as well as to avoid damaging the blade whenever Hollyhock activates her magic. STORY
THE CHILD / 0 › Being part of a fallen house, she had always grown up knowing the meaning of the word reputation. They were nobles in name alone. No fortune, no land, no power. Cereus always told her to never fret about going down in history. To focus on staying alive. A life well lived in simple happiness was better than a life of glory—that is what Cereus taught his daughter and sons, desperate to prevent the tragedy of what his own father did that caused their name to be dragged through the mud. His hands weaved through the air, looking into her mismatched eyes. One blue like his own and one gold. Unnaturally so. Blessed with the light of the Dawnfather who filled her blood with magic.
THE PAGE / 12 › Perhaps it was inevitable. Her father used to be a knight and Hollyhock, who revered him, wanted to follow in his footsteps. Began training at the tender age of 8 and would go on to dedicate ten hours a day to training to hone her blade and amplify her budding talents with the divine. The magic she kept a secret. Played tricks with the light for her family alone, only extending out her healing words to those who needed it. Smiled and pressed a finger to her lips and told them to keep it a secret. Didn't want to draw the attention of anyone who already had the luxury of being able to afford healing potions or walked with the blessing of other higher powers themselves.
THE FALLEN / 22 › When she's 22, she's hired to be a noble lady's personal guard. It's not three months afterwards that she spies a servant stuffing jewels into his pockets with a desperate look in his eyes. There are footsteps already at the door. Her lady's voice echoing from the hallway. Hollyhock makes a decision then. Sees the servant's stricken expression and then pushes him into a closet, taking a handful of his stolen loot and leaving him the rest as the door opens. She's there, in the middle of a room in disarray with a fistful of gems and a blank look on her face. The lady screams and Hollyhock does not even run, letting the guards run down and lead her away. She takes full responsibility for everything. Testifies to that lie, never once wavering on the stand even when the verdict is decided. Her execution for the theft. The courtroom is quiet and her family cries out at the injustice, but Hollyhock does not blink. And there must be something going on. Something not quite right. The trials proceed too quickly and only a handful of people attend. She gets her answer one night when a visitor comes. A noble dressed in fine clothing who offers her a deal. Her service for her freedom. Hollyhock declines, suspicious. The noble only smiles wider. Mentions the names of her brothers who murmur about breaking her out. How easy it would be to crush their necks to the point that even her magic could not save them. That gives Hollyhock pause. And that's what makes her sign her life away.
THE KNIGHT / 28 › Six years and a magical contract binding her location to Riddick's awareness later, she has gained a reputation as a wandering villain. Someone rumoured to have burned down a village and killed a squad of knights. The Skyward family's loyal blade who slaughters anything she was told to with no mercy. Riddick, comfortable with the contract and the ever-present threat against her family, never looks too deeply at Hollyhock's missions. Doesn't know about the naga that killed most of the knights before Hollyhock even got there. Would never know about Hollyhock craftily evacuating the villagers before setting fire to empty houses. Her hands are far from clean, but that does not stop her from doing what she can in Issylra's untamed lands.

SEERS NEVER LIE › It’s something that has been hammered into him. To the point where he takes this as absolute fact regardless of whether or not it’s actually true. Noah either has never tried to lie or doesn’t remember an instance where he did. Even as a little kid. Just the thought of having to tell a lie will provoke a strong psychosomatic response. He’ll feel very sick and distressed.
(And of course he trusted someone. His best friend at the time. His only friend. They lied and they stabbed him in the back and he's never quite recovered.)
Because of this, he hates it when people are considerate of him. It’s not like it’ll make him lash out or dislike a person because they’re kind to him, he’ll just feel a bit uneasy. It’s hard for him to tell how people actually feel when they’re being considerate. He doesn’t know if they actually care or if they’re making a play of it. Even if they actually do, he conflates the two acts until it becomes very hard to tell what’s authentic and what’s not.

TIMELINE
1811 / 0. Sixton Godspell is born. Elizabeth dies during childbirth.
1821 / 10. A tragic accident at sea leaves Mortimer dead, Devlin disabled and Sixton heavily traumatized.
1823 / 12. Sixton is apprenticed under Doctor Deidre Stern who is also their sponsor and surrogate parent.
1826 / 15. The nightmares are getting worse. The Godspells move to London. A recommendation letter from Deidre allows Sixton to find work as an orderly in Westminster Hospital.
1829 / 18. A recruiter for the British Army manages to convince Sixton to enlist. Three days later, Sixton signs into the British Army.
1830 / 19. Sixton is flogged and discharged after he has a breakdown when told he was going to be posted overseas. Before leaving, Sixton pockets a broken service revolver. He swears off drinking, citing the army as the worst decision he ever made. He goes back to the hospital to start working as a nurse.
1831 / 20. The second cholera epidemic arrives in England. This is not a good time.
1838 / 27. Devlin pushes Sixton to find a hobby. Sixton eventually finds solace in literature and picks up writing. At this time, Sixton transitions from the hospital to focusing on providing at-home care for lower to middle classes.
1841 / 30. Sixton is contacted by Jonah Magnus. On October 26, gets caught up in the mysterious circumstances regarding the mysterious absence of August Ward.
